Dog Sledding

The Dogs of disko bay
For Greenlandic Inuit, the dogs have been a matter of life and death for thousands of years. According to an old legend, dogs came out of small tufts in the ground right after the inuit children appeared, which indicates how important dogs are for the Inuit culture. In the Disko Bay region, dog sledding is passed on through generations.
Although they may seem adorable and you want to cuddle with them, the dogs of Disko Bay are not pets. They are working animals and for people living above the arctic circle, the dogs are used for transportation and for hunting purposes. As a visitor you should always consult with the musher before you approach the dogs.
When to go on dog sledding?
Dog sledding is a winter activity. The best time for dog sledding is from January to April. The experience of being on a sled pulled by multiple dogs is something you are very unlikely ever to forget. Sliding through the powdery white snow, and all you can feel is the wind, the smell of nature and fresh air.
