Iginniarfik is situated approximately 40 kilometers south of Kangaatsiaq and around 15 kilometers east of Ikerasaarsuk, positioned on the southern side of the Alanngorsua peninsula.
Population stands at 64. (2023) On January 1, 2017, there were 20 houses mostly single family houses.
Iginniarfik, a charming settlement grounded around 1850, as a trading station, is located in special area. The climate is mild, and winter does not freeze the sea, due to the strong sea stream.
The residents primarily engage in fishing, sealing, and whaling, although there is an absence of a fish factory or production facility. Employment is also generated through public events, the school, and community services. The settlement’s service offerings encompass a small shop and a settlement office (B-710). Within the school building, there is a nursing station and a chapel. In smaller locations, schools serve various roles, acting as a chapel, assembly hall, cinema, and meeting place. Childcare services are provided through day care programs.

Facts about iginniarfik
- Well known arctic explorer Knud Rasmussen made several visits to the settlement during his expeditions in Greenland.
- Iginniarfik translates to “The Destination for Hunting and Shooting with Rifles, where people engage in the pursuit of catching animals.”
The Iginniarfik school numbers 20 pupils, ranging from first to ninth grade.
