Explore Nature's Charm and Cultural Riches

Iginniarfik is situated approximately 40 kilometers south of Kangaatsiaq and around 15 kilometers east of Ikerasaarsuk, positioned on the southern side of the Alanngorsua peninsula.

Population stands at 64. (2023) On January 1, 2017, there were 20 houses mostly single family houses.

Iginniarfik, a charming settlement grounded around 1850, as a trading station, is located in special area. The climate is mild, and winter does not freeze the sea, due to the strong sea stream.

The residents primarily engage in fishing, sealing, and whaling, although there is an absence of a fish factory or production facility. Employment is also generated through public events, the school, and community services. The settlement’s service offerings encompass a small shop and a settlement office (B-710). Within the school building, there is a nursing station and a chapel. In smaller locations, schools serve various roles, acting as a chapel, assembly hall, cinema, and meeting place. Childcare services are provided through day care programs.

The allure of Iginniarfik stems not only from its breathtaking natural beauty, but also from its proximity to the mainland. This provides travel for individuals who want to go caribou hunting in Nassuttooq. Imagine a welcoming community connected to nature’s rhythms, with a tinge of adventure in the air. Welcome to the wonderful world of Iginniarfik.
