Dear students
Then came the day where you get your diplomas and you should be really proud of that.
I have had the pleasure of passing on congratulations to you on behalf of the Municipal Council and the entire Municipality of Qeqertalik, who are currently is located in Qasigiannguit and is well on its way to holding a meeting on the municipality’s budgets for next year.
I would like to thank you very much on behalf of our municipality.
Through your 3-year studies, you have helped to color our city as fellow citizens, we have met on the streets, in the shops, in the gym and among several other events in the city. You have simply contributed to the city’s traders and made the city come alive with your body and soul, and your mere presence – let’s just mention your last day of school, where you woke us unholily early in the morning.
It’s well over 19 years since I myself stood, right here, giving a speech on behalf of my fellow students, as time just flies by – And yet, I can still recognize individual teachers from my time (Tippu, Dorthie , Elisa, Edwin, Birger, Michael), and now that I still have the opportunity, I want to send my, and probably all students’, gratitude to you, yes and the entire teaching staff. It has become clear to me, and I must mention that you, to that extent, have also helped to shape my, our lives, positively.
I hope you students will never forget to be grateful either – as they are the ones who also contribute positively to our city, our country and our society, by raising and promoting the level of education.
I think it’s great, after all these years, that my fellow citizens in the city still remember me and greet me nicely, I hope you students will also experience the same as me.
I would like to repeat one of my points from my speech 19 years ago to you. Use your experiences and experiences from your stay and education here in the city sensibly. Take on experiences, travel, further your education, the doors have opened for you now – Take advantage of your freedom under responsibility!
And here is my thought, when you have taken a higher education, yes a shorter or a professional education, then take your experiences and baggage home again, start a family and become citizens again, we all need your help to lift up our society.
On behalf of Qeqertalik, congratulations to the students and your families – I wish you a very good wind in the future.
Thanks
